Welcome

The Coast ‘N’ Country Natural Horsemanship Club Inc (CNCNHC) was formed in February 2008.

Its purpose is the promotion of Natural Horsemanship and to allow the organization of meetings and events.

Membership is expected to come mostly from the Central Coast , Newcastle and Hunter, and Mid North Coast. These are the areas in which we expect to hold activities.

It is intended to organize training days, tournaments, trail rides, videos/discussions and to encourage self development.

The aim of CNCNHC is to encourage, promote and publicise Natural Horsemanship through the provision of a supportive environment for interested people to practice and evolve their Natural Horsemanship skills.

  • To provide an environment promoting safety when handling and riding horses.
  • To foster fun and friendship within horse related activities.
  • To organise regular gatherings to allow practice of Natural Horsemanship skills.
  • To encourage participation in a diverse range of horse related activities.
  • To foster in horse riders an awareness of Natural Horsemanship practices in regards to horse riding and handling.
  • To provide members greater access to Natural Horsemanship resources.
  • To provide peer support to members in their journey through Natural Horsemanship.

Natural Horsemanship

It is not our intention to follow or be associated to any particular method or teaching scheme of Natural Horsemanship.  We will embrace all that follow the now widely understood ideas espoused by the many trainers.

From Dr Robert Miller’s book, The Revolution in Horsemanship:

  • Commitment to see the world through the horses eyes
  • Using the nature of the horse rather than fighting it
  • Communicating with the horse in ways it instinctively understands

Purists may argue that nothing that man does with a horse is truly natural for either of
them. It matters not.

Natural Horsemanship is the name by which the system of principles and techniques that revolutionized horsemanship is known today.

Activities

It is intended to make regular use of the very good indoor and outdoor riding  facilities at the Riding For Disabled (RDA) centre in Raymond Terrace. Activities will also be held at the properties of members and other locations, subject to risk assessment guidelines.

Safety and Risk Assessment

Safety for horse and human is of paramount importance. We already have in place a set of safety guidelines and Risk Assessment procedures.

 Learning

We will be very much self-help and peer to peer support group.  Whilst members will be very willing to help new members and each other with Natural Horsemanship, the onus rests completely with each individual member to learn and practice these skills themselves. The club will not be providing instruction but hopes to organize courses with professional instructors in due course.

Membership

Membership fees will be payable annually and cover January 1st to December 31st. Any one not a financial member of the Club may attend activities by paying a daily rate for participants and spectators.  The detail of insurance cover is available and all participants are to enquire for what is covered for each level of insurance.
